The 21st Century Communication and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA) requires communication services and products as well as video programming to be made accessible to users with disabilities. Title I addresses Communications Access and focuses on advanced communication services such as internet-based voice chat, video chat, and electronic messaging. Title II covers Video Programming and ensures access to closed captioning, video descriptions, and emergency information.
These requirements extend past traditional internet browsers on personal computers to include mobile phones, tablets, gaming consoles, and streaming media devices. This session will focus on gaming consoles and streaming media devices; exploring the various CVAA guidelines, required testing and documentation, and ways to successfully achieve CVAA compliance.
