There are several WCAG 2.1 success criteria that are mis-understood even by people in the accessibility field.
The Accessibility Guidelines working group has created understanding documentations, sufficient techniques, and documented failure techniques which are informative documents to help understand how to interpret these success criteria.
Despite those useful materials, there are still practical challenges in understanding the nuances of the criteria to accurately evaluate and report on WCAG 2.1 conformance. In addition, some gaps were intentionally left in the criteria to keep them narrowly scoped in order for acceptance in the guidelines.
This presentation will unpack these complex criteria to assist with accurate understanding/testing.
